7 Fun Kid Friendly Trails Near Saskatoon to Explore

There are so many fun hiking trails for families near the city of Saskatoon.

The following trails are some our favourites within 15 to 60 minutes of central Saskatoon, so you can choose a hike to complete for a fun family day trip!

  1. The Gift of Green Nature Trail

 
 

The Gift of Green Nature Trail is a nice and short hike that is 2.4 km in length with an elevation of 25 m in Pike Lake Provincial Park.

A fun interpretive trail to explore and you can feed birds!

 

Location

 

From Saskatoon, Pike Lake Provincial Park is about 37.3 kilometers (23.2 miles) to the southwest. The drive from Saskatoon usually takes about 30 minutes.

2. Discovery Trail Beaver Creek Conservation Area

 
 

The Discovery Trail Beaver Creek is a popular 1.4 km and 43 m of elevation hiking trail just outside of Saskatoon.

 

Location

 
  • Just outside of Saskatoon, Discovery Trail Beaver Creek Conservation Area is about 23.1 kilometers (14.4 miles) to the southwest. The drive from Saskatoon usually takes about 20 to 30 minutes.

  • The trail is behind the visitor centre

3. Cranberry Flats Trail Loop

 
 

Cranberry Flats Trail Loop is a beautiful 2.3 km trail with an elevation of 58 m.

Escape the city of Saskatoon in this trail loop that boasts a sandy beach and crocus flower in the spring.

 

Location

 

Just outside of Saskatoon, Cranberry Flats Trail Loop is about 17 kilometers (10.6 miles) to the southwest. The drive from Saskatoon usually takes about 20 to 25 minutes.

4. Mount Blackstrap

 
 

Mount Blackstrap is a stunning 1.8 km and 143 m of elevation of hiking trail just outside of Saskatoon.

It’s a fun destination that ends with views of Blackstrap Lake and farmer fields.

 

Location

 

From Saskatoon, Mount Blackstrap is about 58 kilometers (36 miles) to the southeast. The drive from Saskatoon usually takes about 45 minutes.

5. Lookout Ridge, Eb’s Trail

 
 

Lookout Ridge, Eb’s is a 2.9 km and 35 m of elevation trail.

There is a beautiful view that is exposed and then it goes into the trees for a nice shaded trail.

 

Location

 

From Saskatoon, the trail is about 101 kilometers (62.8 miles) to the northeast. The drive from Saskatoon usually takes about an hour.

6. Peturrsons Ravine Trail

 
 

Peturrsons Ravine Trail is a 2.1 km with a 68 m elevation hiking trail that goes through a dramatic riverbank terrain.

Visit for the biodiversity and linger over the expansive views of the South Saskatchewan River Valley!

 

Location

 

From central Saskatoon, the trail is about 10.2 kilometers (6.3 miles) to the northeast of the city. The drive within Saskatoon usually takes about 15 minutes.

7. Northeast Swale Trail

 
 

Northeast Swale Trail is a 2.4 km with an elevation of 25 m prairie hike through a historic river channel.

This hike winds through one of Saskatchewan’s most biodiverse and ecologically significant wildlife corridors.

 

Location

 

From central Saskatoon, the trail is about 10.7 kilometers (6.6 miles) to the northeast of the city. The drive within Saskatoon usually takes about 15 to 20 minutes.
